We are in Romania

We arrived last week at the shelter and each day have been trying to get every new dog there documented and photographed. There are so many gorgeous dogs! What is our biggest burden is dogs testing positive to heartworm which costs in the region of £400 here to treat.

Heartworm is a nasty parasite which we test for prior to dogs being offered for adoption. It has to be killed slowly in the dog as it can clog up the heart or arteries if large numbers are killed quickly.

This is George, maybe 7 years old, from the kill shelter. He is heartworm positive. He has started his treatment and is getting good food and vitamins and minerals. See the difference in only a few weeks. His coat is brighter and he is so much happier. George is a lovely big dog who would appreciate a fireside for his later years.
