Lana, born 2014
Local adoptions only please, to allow for a staggered transition and plenty meet ups. Lana was adopted as an adolescent dog in Feb 2015 from a shelter we worked with several years ago. She came back into our care recently and is fostered in a super home with one of our team in Aberdeenshire. Lana had been struggling to come to terms with her adopter starting a family and she had become fearful in her home. Two toddlers in her space proved too much. Although Lana came back to us as an emergency, her former owner said her behaviour had only become a worry really with the changes she had had to face, coupled with being locked down instead of going off to work lanscaping every day with her owner. Lana is quite chunky and not as big as she looks in her photos. Lana's foster has huge experience of Romanian dogs. With eleven other dogs in the home, Lana has adapted well to the changes. She can be pushy with some of the other dogs, but this is all containable, with Lana now understanding what is tolerable in the home and what is not allowed. Lana loves to play. She can be wary still of strangers coming into the house but if managed slowly and she is allowed the chance to do things at her own pace, this soon subsides. Given the huge changes she has had to face, from being an only dog, stressed and nervous in her own home, to one of a pack, Lana has made remarkable progress. Her foster mum suggests Lana would be happy as an only dog or as a second dog, where the other was laid back and not interested in Lana flexing her muscles. She has stopped this mainly in her foster home now - if her fosterers told her to back off, Lana would. Lana hasn't had much formal training - this is something we would be looking for in a new home, to give Lana some structure and parameters that she could understand. Lana's adopters should have experience with rescue dogs and also live close enough to visit as often as needed to make her adoption as seemless as possible. Please only apply if you can fulfil Lana's requirements HAVING also read through our adoption information (copy and paste): https://www.barkingmaddogrescue.co.uk/adoption-information https://www.barkingmaddogrescue.co.uk/adoption-application
