New pups

We have had lots of new puppies in the last few weeks. First two bags of pups were left at the shelter gate, four in one bag, three in the other. They were positive to parvo, canine corona (not the same as COVID) and giardia, and sadly only two (Abby and Somal) have made it through parvo.

Then later that week a man from the village sent Aura a message to say he had found a 'frozen' puppy. She was indeed hypothermic but perked up when warmed and fed. Sadly, she also has parvo which probably was brewing for a while. We think she's the same pup that we spotted at the wheelie bins two weeks before. No one could catch her then and she disappeared. We took her to the vet and she's doing better now. We've named her Poppy.

Then a couple of weeks ago, our lovely, animal loving lad Ionut, found five pups on the way home from school. They were very young pups whose eyes were just opening. It's hard to know if we should share this kind of news - so often these souls don't make it as parvo is rife. So far so good though - with bottle feeding every couple of hours, they're little fatties. Fingers, toes and everything crossed for the next few weeks.

As always, any donations to help with all the care of dogs like these would be much appreciated. To donate, please go here.
